The coffee shop has been integrated into the design to create a unique experience for students and staff in transit. Rather than just being a functional light-rail platform, this offers time to take a break and re-energise.

The design fits seamlessly into the distinct urban environment in which it is featured, with the material palette of timber and concrete mirroring the language of the architecture and landscape surrounding. Addition of gum trees and Jacarandas that are the typical trees of the UNSW lower campus.

The addition of planters and the use of both organic and straight shapes (as seen in use of timber battens in the foreground that contrast to the 'spider-leg' structural columns on the platform) offer insight into the theme of sustainability, giving a reminder of the importance of nature by visual means.
